The promises and pitfalls of Linked-In, Employee and Company Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Blogging, Slideshare to name a few...Is social networking the new “water cooler”? This session will provide examples of how companies are benefiting from the use of such sites, as well as practical advice about how to avoid potential liability and protect your company.
Teresa Thompson is a shareholder in Fredrikson & Byron's Employment and Labor Law Group. Through training and counseling, she works closely with her clients to implement risk prevention strategies to avoid costly litigation. This focus on litigation prevention also includes policy development, employee training, and general human resources best practices. Teresa trains, writes and lectures extensively on the use of technology in the workplace (including, e-mail, internet, blogs, social networking sites, PDAs, cell phone use and text messaging) focusing on increasing the benefits of technology while decreasing the risks associated with employee use and abuse.
Annette Scotti, co-owner of HRtechies, Inc. utilizes her extensive background in strategic human resources planning and organization development as a HR change consultant, manager, recruiter, trainer, and facilitator. Annette has consulted with executive and mid-level management at regional and national organizations in industries which include the financial services, engineering, banking, health care, communications services, nonprofit and education. She also teaches as an adjunct instructor for St. Mary's University of MN in the Graduate and Professional School Program.
